Dolly Parton’s Homecoming Parade makes the perfect centerpiece to a fun and inspiring visit to Pigeon Forge, TN and the Smoky Mountains. Kicking off Pigeon Forge Springfest at 6:00 p.m. on May 11, 2012, the parade is a great excuse to come to eastern Tennessee, but the area offers plenty of beauty and excitement even after the parade ends.
As she has for the past twenty-five years, Dolly Parton, Sevier County’s most beloved export, will head up her annual Homecoming Parade while 50,000 or more spectators turn out along the Parkway for the festivities. The opportunity to see Dolly in person, leading the parade as grand marshal, attracts Dolly admirers to Pigeon Forge from around the world every year. Many of these visitors, along with Dolly herself, also stop at Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s own theme park, for rides, entertainment and delicious southern cooking.
Guests may come for Dolly, but the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding Smoky Mountains provides the opportunity to enjoy nature as well as entertainment. Particularly during the spring, when the Dolly Homecoming Parade takes place, sunny days and wildflowers provide the perfect backdrop for hiking, horseback riding or simply relaxing and taking in the view.
The Dolly Homecoming Parade, in short, lets visitors experience the heart of the Smoky Mountains and fall in love with the lovely corner of America that keeps Dolly herself coming back, year after year. While you’re here, stay in a great Gatlinburg cabin rental and enjoy the area.
