While a longer vacation is always better, sometimes taking a week off just isn’t in the cards. Fortunately, it’s still possible to have an amazing escape in the Smokies when you come for a weekend trip. To help you make the most of your getaway, Auntie Belham’s has put together a few tips for an incredible weekend getaway at our Gatlinburg vacation cabins.
If your goal is to have as much fun as possible during your abbreviated vacation, you will definitely want to stay close to downtown Gatlinburg. As anyone who has visited the Smokies can tell you, The Strip is where all of the action is. When your time is limited, you don’t want to spend your vacation in the car. Instead, choose one of our Gatlinburg cabins close to downtown and enjoy proximity to all of the area’s best attractions, restaurants, and shops.
If it all possible, try to schedule your trip for a three day weekend. Having an extra day on your getaway can prove invaluable, especially if you have a long distance to travel. Taking advantage of federal holidays is a great way to capitalize on a long weekend without using your vacation time. If there aren’t any three day weekends on the horizon, it may be worth it to take a Friday or a Monday off from work. Even leaving a few hours early on Friday could be a huge help if it allows you to arrive in Gatlinburg that evening.
Remember, you’re only going on vacation for two or three days. There is no need to pack your entire wardrobe! A couple of outfits should suffice, especially if you wear clothing that can easily be dressed up for a night out. The great thing about staying at our Gatlinburg vacation cabins is that so much of what you need is provided for you. Guests don’t have to bring towels, linens, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, or kitchen ware, as all of these items will be waiting at your cabin. If you have any questions about what is and isn’t included in your cabin, don’t hesitate to ask!
When you get to Gatlinburg, you don’t want to still be be figuring out what you want to do. It pays to do research in advance so you don’t have to waste any precious vacation time. Websites like TripAdvisor and Yelp are great for determining which restaurants and attractions are worth your time. Before you leave home, have a rough itinerary of all the activities you want to check out during your trip.
Although you will want to fit in as many attractions and activities as you can, be sure to pencil in some downtime at your cabin. After all, a getaway in Gatlinburg is supposed to be relaxing! Spend a lazy morning or afternoon sitting out on the deck to just admire the views, or kick back for a soothing soak in the hot tub.
