Ober Gatlinburg has become a popular destination for snow tubing during the winter season, so they now offer tubing in the summer months too! While you won’t find any snow on these unique outdoor slopes, they offer the same fun experience with slippery lanes made of synthetic materials! This is your chance to enjoy the thrill of tubing down the mountain, all while wearing shorts and a t-shirt! Here are the top 4 things to know about summer tubing at Ober Gatlinburg:

1. What to Expect

The summer tubing attraction is virtually the same as snow tubing, just without the parkas and cold weather! There are 4 tubing lanes available, all which feature a special synthetic material that allows you to feel the sensation of being on layers of snow. After choosing your lane at the top of the mountain, simply sit down in your tube and get ready to squeal in delight as you slide 250 feet to the bottom! You can even make the activity more exciting by racing your family and friends to the end! Just like snow tubing, the Magic Carpet carries you and your tube back to the top so that you don’t have to walk back up the hill.

2. Dates, Times, and Location

The summer tubing lanes are open daily throughout the summer from 10 AM to 6 PM, but operating hours are subject to change due to weather conditions. Ober Gatlinburg is easily accessible from downtown Gatlinburg via the Aerial Tramway, or you can drive to the top of the mountain along Ski Mountain Road.

3. Ticket Information

There are a variety of ticket plans since there are many other summer attractions available, including the Scenic Chairlift, Alpine Slide, and Ski Mountain Coaster. While you can purchase individual tickets for each run down the summer tubing lanes, you may want to consider one of the wristband options. These wristbands offer unlimited access to summer tubing and a variety of the other attractions on the mountain.

4. Ride Restrictions

To participate in the summer tubing activity, riders must be at least 3 years old, a minimum height of 36 inches and a maximum height of 78 inches. Note that kids ages 4 to 6 can join the fun, but they must ride with an adult. While you are welcome to wear your normal summer clothing, shoes are required so be sure to change out of your flip flops or any other loose fitting shoes!
