3 Unique Attractions at Dollywood You Don’t Want to Miss
If you have been to Dollywood in the past, you are probably familiar with its award-winning shows, world-class thrill rides, and exciting seasonal events! There are also a few attractions in the theme park you might have missed on your first trip, so be sure to check these out the next time you are visiting Pigeon Forge! Here are 3 unique attractions at Dollywood you don’t want to miss:
1. Dolly’s Tennessee Mountain Home
One of the unique attractions at Dollywood you don’t want to miss is Dolly’s Tennessee Mountain Home, a two-room replica of Dolly Parton’s childhood home that was located in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. When you step inside the home, you will get a true feeling of what Dolly means when she speaks of her upbringing in a tiny mountain house! Most of the items you see throughout the cabin are original family treasures. The kitchen walls are covered with floral wallpaper and old newspapers, and the table is set with plates and aluminum coffee cups. Dolly’s Tennessee Mountain Home is close to the entrance to the theme park, making it the perfect starting point for your exploration of the park!
2. Eagle Mountain Sanctuary
The Eagle Mountain Sanctuary is a 30,000-square-foot aviary that is home to the country’s largest presentation of non-releasable bald eagles! This is a rare opportunity to see these impressive birds of prey in a spectacular mountain setting! While visiting the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary, you can also see members of the American Eagle Foundation interacting with the bald eagles. Be sure to bring your cell phone or camera along to capture a photo of these majestic animals!
3. Robert F. Thomas Chapel
Another one of the unique attractions at Dollywood you don’t want to miss is the Robert F. Thomas Chapel, which is named after the doctor who delivered little Dolly Rebecca Parton. There aren’t too many theme parks that boast their own chapel, but that is exactly what you will find with this one-room country church! The simple wooden pews and hardwood floors echo with the sounds of families and neighbors gathering for Sunday morning worship. You can even join in on one of the services, which take place at 11:30 am on Sundays through the regular season and at 5:30 pm on Sundays during Smoky Mountain Christmas.
