Winter is one of our favorite times of the year to visit the Smokies! To help you make the most of your vacation this season, Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals has put together a list of the top six things we love about winter in Gatlinburg:
Straight through the end of January, you can see the area’s incredible Christmas lights in style on the Gatlinburg Winter Magic Trolley Ride of Lights. Trolley rides are available nightly at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, and children under the age of 3 ride free if they sit on the lap of a paying adult. You can expect a cozy ride in the enclosed, heated trolley as you tour downtown Gatlinburg to see the glorious $1.6 million LED light displays.

Downtown Gatlinburg will really come to life on Friday, Dec. 4 during the annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade. The parade begins at 7:30 p.m., but you may want to come early to get a good spot to watch the festivities. Spectators will enjoy a wonderful variety of talented marching bands, brilliantly lighted floats, gorgeous horses, giant balloons, and a very special appearance by jolly old Saint Nick himself.
The winter fun just keeps on coming with fantastic activities at Ober Gatlinburg. This is the time of year to hit the slopes for excellent skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing, but that’s just for starters. Visitors can also enjoy a gentle, scenic ride on the Aerial Tramway or a wild ride on the new Ski Mountain Coaster. An ice skating rink and an excellent arcade are great places to play indoors. Ober Gatlinburg offers something for the entire family, and even the smallest children can enjoy winter fun in the Cubbies Snow Zone.
The Village Shops in Gatlinburg offer you a truly unique shopping experience. You’ll adore the authentic European village atmosphere, and you’re sure to find some lovely holiday gifts at the 27 boutiques, clothiers, and galleries. Be sure to treat yourself to a special meal and dessert at the excellent eateries while you’re there!
Winter is the perfect time of year to enjoy a stay in a luxury cabin at a lower price. You’re sure to find a great deal that may include saving 15 % off your entire stay, enjoying two nights free with a seven night stay, or getting $35 off each night of your vacation.
