Robert Alewine graduated from high school with a deep fascination with art. He continued into college, where he fell even more in love with creating art, especially pottery. Over the years, he began to study with other artists, hoping to fulfill his dream of pottery and sculpture. He married in 1975 and moved to to Gatlinburg to begin an artistic journey. He strived to create a life for himself and his family and he succeed with the creation of Alewine Pottery .
Along with fulfilling his dream of becoming an artist, Robert has instilled the love for pottery in the hearts of everyone in his family. He has taught the art of sculpting pottery to family members, including his young grandchildren. Together, the Alewine family is dedicated to creating beautiful pieces of art every day.
Robert Alewine has now been making pottery for over 30 years. Today, Alewine Pottery is a well-known Gatlinburg shop in the Arts and Crafts Community in Gatlinburg which can be found by turning
at traffic light #3. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of live music as they relax in a rocking chair outside. The shop has very quickly become a must-visit Gatlinburg attraction for many vacationers.
Open seven days per week, from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., visitors can stop in to the gallery and even see the potters at work. Parking at the Gatlinburg shop is free, or visitors can catch a ride to the location on the Gatlinburg Trolley.
