During the spring months, the Pigeon Forge area is famous for its beautiful wildflowers. The best way to see the flowers up close is to venture into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a scenic hike. Here are some of the trails that typically have the most impressive wildflowers:
- The first two miles of the Kanati Fork Trail are great for wildflower viewing in early spring.
- The Little River Trail has fantastic wildflowers from mid-March through April.
- The first 1.5 miles of the Porters Creek Trail are excellent from late March through April.
- The two mile section of the Appalachian Trail between Newfound Gap and Road Prong Trail has stunning wildflowers from mid-April through May.
4. Spring Festivals at Dollywood
Each year, Dollywood celebrates spring with two amazing festivals. First up is the Festival of Nations, which runs from mid-March to mid-April. Musicians and dancers from all around the world come to the theme park to perform daily concerts that are free with the price of admission. You can expect to see everything from African dancing to a British ukulele ensemble.
In May, the park transitions to the popular Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival. Guests will have the chance to attend over 250 complimentary concerts from some of the very best bluegrass musicians in the country. In addition, there will be heaping helpings of tasty BBQ with all of the fixin’s to enjoy during the music performances.
