The cities of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN are famous for three things:
- The incredible natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains
- An amazing variety of family attractions
Yes, pancakes are serious business in the Smokies. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg may have the highest concentration of pancake houses per square mile of anywhere in the country! This fierce flapjack competition has really raised the bar for hotcakes in Sevier County, and the results have been phenomenal.
With so many great restaurants to choose from, deciding where to go out for breakfast during your vacation can feel like an overwhelming task. To help you make the most of your getaway, Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to the five best pancakes in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
1. Pancake Pantry
When it comes to flapjacks, no restaurant carries more authority than the Pancake Pantry. This restaurant is the state of Tennessee’s first pancake house, and the secret to its longevity is no secret. Everything at the Pancake Pantry is made the old fashioned way: with real butter, fresh whipped cream, and the very best ingredients.
The sheer variety of pancakes at the Pantry boggles the mind. Some of the most popular hotcakes on the menu include the Sugar ‘N Spice Pancakes (served with applesauce and cinnamon cream syrup), the Wild Blueberry Pancakes, and the Swiss Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The Pancake Pantry does not accept credit cards and can get very crowded on weekend mornings, so plan accordingly!
Visiting the Log Cabin Pancake House is a vacation tradition! This great restaurant has is located in the heart of Gatlinburg. The Log Cabin is a family owned business with loyal employees, some of whom have worked there for over 40 years. It’s not uncommon for just one of their restaurants to serve almost 180,000 guests per year!
All of the pancakes at the Log Cabin are great, but our favorite is the Pancake Royal, which is served with powdered sugar, banana wedges, and a special cream cheese sauce.
3. Sawyer’s Farmhouse Restaurant
Sawyer’s Farmhouse Restaurant also serves some of the very best pancakes in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Despite only having opened in 2014, this restaurant has quickly established itself as one of the top breakfast spots in the Smokies. What sets Sawyer’s apart from the rest is their delicious homemade syrups. The peanut butter syrup, in particular, is absolutely incredible!
4. Crockett’s Breakfast Camp
Crockett’s Breakfast Camp is another relative newcomer who has taken the Smoky Mountain restaurant scene by storm. With its rustic interior and fun mountain atmosphere, Crockett’s is a great place for breakfast with the whole family. Instead of ordinary pancakes, this restaurant makes delicious “griddle cakes” that are extra large and extra thick. Highlights of the menu include the Cinnamon Roll Swirl Pancakes and the Hogs in a Blanket Pancakes.
If you’ve got a mighty appetite, you can’t go wrong with Reagan’s House of Pancakes! This hometown favorite is famous for its excellent breakfast buffet. Featuring pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and made-to-order eggs, this buffet never disappoints. Reagan’s also has an expansive menu with a variety of great pancakes in case you’re not in the mood for a buffet. With two locations on the Pigeon Forge Parkway, you’ll never be far from a Reagan’s location.
