Sure, eating burgers and hotdogs while relaxing in the backyard or at a Gatlinburg cabin rental with your family and friends is a traditional way to spend the Fourth of July. However, why not page homage and respect to the true meaning of the holiday at the Pigeon Forge event known as the Patriot Festival?
From 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., this event, set against the stunning scenery of the Smoky Mountains, will remind you of the independence gained by brave soldiers and leaders. Events and activities include games, food and fireworks, making it an enjoyable experience for everyone from the youngest to the oldest members of your family. Participate in the “Veterans Salute” to thank those who have fought for freedom through the years, and listen to the country tunes of John Anderson from the lawn. The Pigeon Forge Patriot Festival official website states that people should bring their own chairs to this Pigeon Forge event.
Even if you have other plans during the day, why not head down to Patriot Park, the site of this wonderful festival, at night? The fireworks display is generally around 9:30/9:45, so you’ll have plenty of time to get there after an afternoon of downing burgers, corn and ribs.
What’s even better than a day and night full of patriotism? Well, admission and parking for this event are absolutely free! You can’t get much better than that! Perhaps you want to stay for awhile or check out the midnight parade in Gaitlinburg starting in the wee morning hours of the Fourth. If that’s the case, check out local hotels and motels in the area. For a larger group, such as a troop of friends or members of a family reunion, look into some larger, more private accommodations such as a Gatlinburg cabin rental.
